Dry fly fishing is all about presentation and accuracy. Besides your casting technique, presentation and accuracy can be improved by using a variety of tapers in your fly line and leader set up. The best presentation comes from what lies between your fly line and fly .....a furled leader!

Designed primarily for dry fly these furled leaders give exceptional presentation. With easy application and use, this range of furled leaders will serve you well no matter what fly fishing situation you find yourself in.

Q. What are these furled leaders constructed from?
A. Strong thread.
Q. What colours are available?
A. Click here for colour chart
Q. How long are the leaders?
A. 36" - For use on small rivers or streams where fishing is at close quarters.
A. 42" - Streams & Small to medium rivers.
A. 48" - Small to medium rivers & chalkstreams.
A. 65" - Medium to large rivers, stillwaters & reservoirs.
Q. What line weights are available?
A. #2-#5 or #5-#8.
Q. Do the leaders stretch to allow for light tippets?
A. Yes - they stretch just enough to keep total control and minimise breakage when using light tippets.
Q. Do the leaders have any memory?
A. No - Scrunch it, coil it all you like. With one simple stretch the leaders remain incredibly straight.
Q. Do they spray water during the cast?
A. Minimal - Furled leaders are twisted in construction and do not retain water like braided leaders which are hollow and cause surface disturbance on the pickup and cast.
Q. How do I connect the furled leader to my fly line?
A. With a loop to loop connection. Click here to see a permanent furled leader to fly line alternative.
Q. How do I connect my tippet material to the leader?
A. At the tip of the furled leader is a weightless 1mm tip ring. To this you tie your final or tapered tippet using your favoured knot.
A. Alternatively you can opt for a Shorb loop instead of the tip ring similar to the butt loop. The choice is yours. |

Q. How long does my leader/tippet need to be?
A. I've used as little as 2ft and as much as 15ft. You can add as little or as much leader/tippet material as you wish.
What's important is that you can turn over the longest leader/tippet possible given your venue and conditions. There's no point in having a 10ft leader/tippet attachment if you're only turning over 7ft of it. Remember it's about presentation and accuracy, you can't optimise these if you can't control the leader, tippet and ultimately the fly.
Q. How do I make the leaders float?
A. Just apply a good quality floatant/waterproof paste.
Q. How do I make the leaders sink?
A. Do nothing - let the thread leader absorb water.
Q. Can I improve the sinking of these leaders?
A. Yes - Just add a good quality sinkant/weighting paste.
Q. Can I use them in salt water?
A. Yes - Just ensure you rinse it thoroughly in freshwater.
